The Power Catalyst team is carefully assembled from the best talent you could find.  Part of our team brings energy business best practices from years of experience inside RTOs and ISOs, as well as market participant trading floors and settlements groups.  The other part of the team keeps abreast of fast-paced technology change, carefully selecting tools and honing deep technical skills.  Across the board, we constantly nurture specific competencies that refine our ability to steer complex energy data management projects to success.

The success of the company depends utterly on the individual members of the team not mentioned here by name.  In addition, three of us maintain our long-term vision:

President and Principal Consultant

Michael Leppitsch brings over 16 years of software product development experience, 12 of them in the electric power industry.  He was present at the beginning of deregulation by supporting direct access, evaluating competitive power contracts, and contributing to proceedings that separated vertically integrated utilities into functionally distinct generation, transmission, and distribution companies.  When California implemented its first competitive markets, Michael focused on the development of participant business processes, system integration, and the operations and settlement of RTO markets.  Since then, Michael supported the launch of participant and RTO solutions during the startup of three new markets, and led projects in six power market footprints.

Vice President and Principal Architect

Brian Leonard applies 20 years of technology experience to developing enterprise architectures, in which technologies play a key enabling role.  He has focused on the energy space for 8 years, providing leadership in the creation and implementation of strategic technology  roadmaps for major system vendors and RTOs.  His competence extends to IT governance, software life cycles, compliance strategies, and contract management.  Brian is an established SOA guru in the wholesale energy domain, and has been a major visionary in shaping the industry's accepted enterprise integration paradigms.

Vice President and Principal Architect

Julie Liao has honed 15 years of energy and financial software experience into a unique expertise, structuring energy data and information into highly refined, efficient and effective data architectures.  She builds and leads software teams in the design of large-scale data warehouses and business repositories, strategic technology and level of effort assessments, energy business information design and definitions, performance tuning, and proof-of-concept execution. Julie's designs are at the heart of several large-scale operational repositories today.

General Manager

Joe Mersereau brings over 20 years of experience as a leader, manager, and process improvement guru of several high-tech public companies to the team. Joe manages the IT and corporate services division, manages all vendors, serves all employees as the HR liaison, and drives all internal management and improvement processes.
