December 2003: Power Catalyst staff completes the selection process of an enterprise-wide portal technology for the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) in record time.

The CAISO portal is a cornerstone of the grid operator's new IT infrastructure, greatly improving system flexibility, business responsiveness, and customer satisfaction while reducing operating costs. Despite the accelerated timeline, the selection process included a rigorous requirements assessment, vendor assessment, request for bids, thorough evaluation, and vendor trial phases. Power Catalyst was able to help CAISO secure the right technology for the right price, in time for integration into the overall IT strategy of the MRTU (formerly known as MD02) market redesign and technology upgrade program.

Power Catalyst supported the vendor negotiations, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings over list price. The ability of new business applications to leverage the portal in a timely fashion reduces implementation risks across the board, and will result in additional millions of dollars in savings for the CAISO over the course of the program.
